How to use
How to use sakura cherry blossom powder
The classic: a hot sakura latte in 4 steps.
- 1Sift 3–5 g sakura powderSift it into a cup to break up any small lumps.
- 2Mix to a smooth pasteWhisk in about 30 ml warm water or milk until no dry powder is left.
- 3Sweeten to tasteA little sugar, honey or vanilla syrup brings the floral flavour forward.
- 4Top up with hot milkPour in steamed milk to make 300 ml and stir. Do not boil it: high heat dulls the aroma.
How much to use
| Recipe | Amount | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Hot latte, 300 ml | 3–5 g | Make a paste with warm milk first |
| Iced latte, 300 ml | 3–5 g | Cold tastes milder: use the top end |
| Bubble tea, 1 serving | 3–5 g | Blend into the milk base before ice |
| Cake or sponge, per 250 g flour | 8–15 g | Sift in with the flour |
| Buttercream or filling, 500 g | 15–30 g | Sift into the icing sugar first |
| Ice cream, per 500 g base | 10–20 g | Blend with the sugar first |
Starting points: colour and flavour depend on the recipe. Weigh the powder, as spoonfuls vary a lot.
Tip: Heat softens both the pink and the floral aroma, so sakura shows best in drinks, creams, frostings and ice cream. Pair it with milk, white chocolate, vanilla or almond, and keep espresso and dark chocolate in the background.
